Video production cost depends on what you’re shooting, how many days it takes, who’s behind the camera, and what happens after the footage is in the can. Here’s how to think about it before you call for a quote.
The Variables That Actually Move the Price
Type of video. A single-camera testimonial shot in an office costs a fraction of a multi-location commercial with talent, wardrobe, and a full crew. Know what category your project falls into before you start comparing numbers.
Crew size. A lean two-person crew (camera operator and audio) works for social content and simple interviews. A commercial shoot might need a director, DP, gaffer, grip, sound mixer, and a production assistant or two. Crew size scales with production value.
Shoot days. Cost is largely a function of time. A half-day shoot is cheaper than a two-day shoot, and a two-day shoot with a company like MU2 in Miami costs less than the same shoot spread across a week because setup and teardown only happen once.
Equipment. Cinema cameras (ARRI, RED, Sony Venice), lighting packages, drones, and specialty gear like high-speed Phantom cameras all carry rental costs. A project that needs aerial footage or slow-motion inserts costs more than one shot on a single camera body.
Talent. Hiring on-camera talent, whether actors or professional presenters, adds a line item. Using existing staff or customers keeps costs down but isn’t always the right creative call.
Locations. Shooting in your own office is free. Shooting on a rooftop in Brickell or at a permitted public location in Miami Beach comes with location fees and permit costs on top of production time.
Post-production. Editing, color grading, sound design, and motion graphics all take time, and time is the main cost driver in post just like it is on set. A 30-second cutdown from an existing project is cheap. A fully scripted, animated explainer is not.

Without pretending to give you an exact number, here’s the general shape of the market:
- Social media content (single day, small crew, light editing): the lower end of the spectrum
- Corporate and brand video (half to full day shoot, moderate crew, standard post): the middle of the range
- Commercials and multi-day productions (full crew, talent, locations, heavier post): the top end
